22 November 2023
The 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) UN climate change conference will be held in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 12, 2023. In 8 days, close to 70,000 delegates will gather in Dubai to discuss climate action.
This year, we are proud to announce that Singapore's delegation will include Nika.eco! Our very own Co-founder, Johann Wah is part of Silverstrand's Biodiversity Accelerator cohort pitching on Demo Day in the Singapore Pavilion on 1 December.
Quick recap for those who are new to Nika.eco: Founded in 2022, Nika.eco has developed AI technology to fast-track nature-based carbon project eligibility, and assess opportunities and risks at scale. What would take up to 8 weeks is now possible in 1 week on NikaFeasibility. Some of our earliest projects include natural capital local to South East Asia’s biodiversity - restoring mangroves and seagrasses, which are highly effective carbon sinks, sequestering 4x more carbon than rainforests. Our clients include the likes of Carbon Growth Partners based in Australia, Climate+ based in Singapore and Vida Carbon based in Vancouver, among many others.
This year’s overarching theme of COP28 is "Delivering Together on Climate Ambition". With climate impacts intensifying around the world, COP28 aims to accelerate global climate action and close the emissions gap to meet the Paris Agreement goals of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. The two-week programme will be structured around the intersection of technology and innovation, inclusion, frontline communities and finance.
CarbonGPT and NikaFeasibility
Nationally, in line with Singapore’s pledge to reach Net-Zero by 2050, we believe Nika.eco’s technology will become an essential tool for scaling climate efforts locally and globally. CarbonGPT is an AI chatbot that enables users to quickly understand and analyse large data sets, carbon project eligibility and more. NikaFeasibility is the go-to tool for carbon project developers and investors to predict opportunities and risks at scale.
